Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Avondale Park School and our school website.

Avondale Park School is a large primary school serving a multi-ethnic community in the heart of North Kensington and since September 2014 we have been federated with St Anne’s Nursery School. Please click here for federation home page.

At Avondale Park School we have two classes in each year group, with about 25 children per class. There are 26 teaching staff including the Head and Deputy Headteacher and 41 non teaching staff. We pride ourselves as teachers on aiming continually to develop and improve our teaching in order to make learning accessible and exciting for all pupils.

We are fortunate to have lots of space with excellent facilities, including 2 computer suites, interactive whiteboards in each classroom, two sports halls, and developing playgrounds.

We are an inclusive school encouraging the academic, social and personal development of every child in a welcoming and secure environment. Visitors are always struck by the friendly but hardworking atmosphere created by staff and pupils and indeed, Ofsted commented on this.

As your child’s first teacher, you will be aware of your child's needs, strengths and weaknesses and we hope to build upon that experience through a strong home – school partnership. We are happy to discuss our approach to education with parents and hope that they will continue to be involved in their children’s education throughout their school career.

WORLD BOOK DAY
Thursday 1st March is World Book Day, so we will be celebrating books and the joy of reading all week. All classes from Y1-Y6 will be reading The Tear Thief’ as their book week guided reading book and Nursery and Reception ‘Day Monkey, Night Monkey’. There are authors/ illustrators/ and a dance group working in school during the week and on Friday, children may dress up as characters from books. The themes for each year group were announced before Half Term; and we look forward to a school full of book characters, with the best costumes from each class congratulated in assembly. Each day after school, we will have a book fair (shop) in the Ground Floor Hall organised by ‘The Book People’ where parents can buy books for their children at very reasonable prices. What a busy week all about books – we look forward to those special costumes next Friday!
NEW SCHOOL GATE
Thank you to everyone for their patience in understanding and managing our new school gate! We have had it installed to increase the security of our children – particularly at lunchtimes and playtimes when the boundary wall gate is frequently open due to staff and visitors coming and going. Just to confirm, when you arrive at school, please press the buzzer so that the office releases the gate. You need to push the boundary wall gate (no longer automated) and then pull down the black handle of the internal gate. Both gates will swing shut automatically. Thank you again
CONGRATULATIONS
A huge well done to Y1 and Y2 Classes for their hard work all day Thursday with Don Rae. He taught everyone some dances linked to their focus book ‘The Tear Thief’ and once again, we were amazed and impressed with the quality of what was achieved in a day. Congratulations to all!
