Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Avondale Park School and our school website.

Avondale Park School is a large primary school serving a multi-ethnic community in the heart of North Kensington and since September 2014 we have been federated with St Anne’s Nursery School. Please click here for federation home page.

At Avondale Park School we have two classes in each year group, with about 25 children per class. There are 26 teaching staff including the Head and Deputy Headteacher and 41 non teaching staff. We pride ourselves as teachers on aiming continually to develop and improve our teaching in order to make learning accessible and exciting for all pupils.

We are fortunate to have lots of space with excellent facilities, including 2 computer suites, interactive whiteboards in each classroom, two sports halls, and developing playgrounds.

We are an inclusive school encouraging the academic, social and personal development of every child in a welcoming and secure environment. Visitors are always struck by the friendly but hardworking atmosphere created by staff and pupils and indeed, Ofsted commented on this.

As your child’s first teacher, you will be aware of your child's needs, strengths and weaknesses and we hope to build upon that experience through a strong home – school partnership. We are happy to discuss our approach to education with parents and hope that they will continue to be involved in their children’s education throughout their school career.

We look forward to meeting you. Please phone for an appointment.
Best wishes,

Katy Blackler - Headteacher.

Latest News
May I remind you to make sure that you have booked to see your child’s teacher on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening of next week? If you have not, please do so as it is an important meeting. You will meet your child’s teacher; find out about your child’s learning so far this school year; and what you can do to support him or her at home.
Please note, there will be no film showing in the hall this year as Michael is running our extended club. If you do not wish your child to attend the parent/ teacher meeting with you, you can book him or her into the extended club at a cost of £3 for half the session and £6 for the full session. Children may attend their own meeting (and are asked to in Y5 and 6); but if they are waiting outside classrooms, they are expected to wait quietly and patiently. Please note,  no children should be left unaccompanied in the playground or anywhere else in the school. Thank you for your support.
We are pleased to announce that Angela (Angie) Williamson, an experienced Early Help Support Worker, will be working in school over the next 12 weeks to support parents and children. Her role will provide a time for parents to discuss concerns they may be having and Angie will be able to offer support, practical advice, guidance and information.
Angie will be available in school every Thursday morning starting from next week, and there will be a Coffee Morning in the Community Room so that interested parents can meet her. Subjects covered may be bedtime routines, support with behaviour, healthy eating or developing confidence. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding but challenging experiences for many of us  and Angie will be able to give advice in a group or on a 1:1 basis. We look forward to seeing you there.
