Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Avondale Park School and our school website.

Avondale Park School is a large primary school serving a multi-ethnic community in the heart of North Kensington and since September 2014 we have been federated with St Anne’s Nursery School. Please click here for federation home page.

At Avondale Park School we have two classes in each year group, with about 25 children per class. There are 26 teaching staff including the Head and Deputy Headteacher and 41 non teaching staff. We pride ourselves as teachers on aiming continually to develop and improve our teaching in order to make learning accessible and exciting for all pupils.

We are fortunate to have lots of space with excellent facilities, including 2 computer suites, interactive whiteboards in each classroom, two sports halls, and developing playgrounds.

We are an inclusive school encouraging the academic, social and personal development of every child in a welcoming and secure environment. Visitors are always struck by the friendly but hardworking atmosphere created by staff and pupils and indeed, Ofsted commented on this.

As your child’s first teacher, you will be aware of your child's needs, strengths and weaknesses and we hope to build.... read more.

It has been a wonderful first week back: not only have we had our first taste of summer, but all children have taken part in Science Week. I hope that they have told you about some of the exciting science activities that have taken place- from experiments on sound to workshops exploring the senses to exploring the water cycle through music and dance!-. We saw some great learning from all classes in our Friday assemblies- do have a look on Twitter to find out more!
Thank you to all those of you ensuring that their children are looking so smart this week. Just a few reminders: Girls should either be wearing trousers or grey pinafore or skirt with a white shirt and tie (in Y3-Y6) or a summer dress. White or grey socks or tights should be worn but not leggings.Hair should be tied back with black or burgundy hair bands or small bows. Bright and sparkly bows are not school uniform. Boys should be wearing school uniform trousers or shorts, with a white shirt – long or short sleeves; and if in Y3-Y6, with a school tie. All clothing should be named.
It has been unseasonably warm this week and I am sure we will resume to normal temperatures next week, but just a reminder that children should apply sunscreen before they come to school and ideally bring a hat and a bottle of water in the hot weather. Thank you for your support.
