Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Avondale Park School and our school website.

Avondale Park School is a large primary school serving a multi-ethnic community in the heart of North Kensington and since September 2014 we have been federated with St Anne’s Nursery School. Please click here for federation home page.

At Avondale Park School we have two classes in each year group, with about 25 children per class. There are 26 teaching staff including the Head and Deputy Headteacher and 41 non teaching staff. We pride ourselves as teachers on aiming continually to develop and improve our teaching in order to make learning accessible and exciting for all pupils.

We are fortunate to have lots of space with excellent facilities, including 2 computer suites, interactive whiteboards in each classroom, two sports halls, and developing playgrounds.

We are an inclusive school encouraging the academic, social and personal development of every child in a welcoming and secure environment. Visitors are always struck by the friendly but hardworking atmosphere created by staff and pupils and indeed, Ofsted commented on this.

As your child’s first teacher, you will be aware of your child's needs, strengths and weaknesses and we hope to build upon that experience through a strong home – school partnership. We are happy to discuss our approach to education with parents and hope that they will continue to be involved in their children’s education throughout their school career.

We look forward to meeting you. Please phone for an appointment.

Best wishes,

Katy Blackler - Headteacher

The main governing body for Avondale Park and St Anne’s Federation of Schools met on Tuesday 15th May 2018. The main focus of this meeting was the Curriculum visits made by governors. Each governor is allocated a subject including Maths, Reading, Writing, Science, Computing, Music and Drama, Early Years, EAL and Modern Languages, PHSE, SEN and Safeguarding. We meet with the lead teacher for our subject and then report back to the rest of the governing body. This is a wonderful way for us to really understand what is happening on a daily basis in the classrooms. The highlight was governor Cassie’s feedback for Early Years. She went to visit Forest School with one of the nursery classes and was clearly enthralled by what a brilliant day the children had and how beneficial it was. Parents are always welcome to accompany their children to Forest School with their class. Other matters discussed included the school budgets, the new data protection laws, which come into force later this month, Katy’s head teacher’s report and Avondale Extra’s generous funding for the year 6 School Journey planned for next week. Our next meeting will be on 26th June Report written by Sarah Melville.
Royal wedding fever hit Avondale today with dresses, cakes and suits being designed; and tea parties being held. Colette’s class are sending a card to Kensington palace; and we wish Prince Harry and Meghan Markle very happy day tomorrow.
We have been advised that Sirdar Road and Mary Place will be closed on Thursday 24th May between 8.00am and 5.00pm for re-surfacing work. If you usually bring your car or travel by cab, please make arrangements to leave earlier, park further away and walk. Thank you
